How Many Devices Can You Stream On at Once?

9/5/2026

The short answer

Every StratosPlay plan includes 3 simultaneous connections by default — meaning up to 3 devices can stream at the same time on one subscription, whether that's three different TVs, or a mix of TV, phone, and tablet.

What counts as a "device"

It's about simultaneous streams, not how many apps you've installed the login on. You could have TiviMate set up on five different devices, but only 3 of them can be actively playing a stream at the same moment. If a fourth tries to connect, it'll typically get a "max connections reached" message until one of the others stops.

Do I need more than 3?

Depends on your household. A couple with one TV and occasional phone streaming will rarely hit the limit. A larger household — multiple TVs, plus phones/tablets in regular use — can bump into it, especially during big live sports events when everyone wants their own screen.

Adding extra devices

If 3 isn't enough, every plan lets you add extra connections at checkout for a small additional cost per device — no need to buy a second full subscription. If you're already subscribed and want to add more, use the Request More Devices button on your account page.

A quick tip

If you're regularly hitting the limit only during specific events (like a big match), it might be cheaper to add 1 extra device permanently than to juggle who gets to watch — worth doing the math based on how often it happens.

Frequently asked questions

I got a "maximum connections reached" message — what do I do? It means every device slot on your plan is already actively streaming. Close the stream on one device (don't just switch away from the app — actually stop playback), then try connecting on the other device again.

Does leaving the app open in the background count as a connection? Usually yes if it's still actively playing — pausing or exiting the stream (not just switching to another app) frees the slot. If you consistently see "phantom" connections you don't recognize, message us and we'll check for anything unusual on the account.

Can I add a device permanently instead of paying per event? Yes — extra device slots are a permanent add-on, not a one-time unlock. Once added they stay on your plan every billing cycle until you remove them.

Do all my devices need to be on the same app? No — device count is about simultaneous streams, not which app you use. You can mix TiviMate on the TV, Smarters on a phone, and OTT Navigator on a tablet, all counting toward the same shared device limit.
